No posts yesterday but we are back for a lengthy one today:

Hockey Playoffs- Last year the Western conference was upset city, with the 8 seed making it to the stanley cup. This year the Rangers looked poised to go to round two, and between the lightning, islanders and Penguins: At least one of the three is going to move on. You have got to love the play of Sean Avery. He gets under the opposing team's skin while becoming the Garden's most loved and endeared player since the first few games of Lundqvist's career last season. MSG has hear more "Avery, Avery" chants in the past three months than it did "Henrik" chants all last year. Not to mention he is a terrific offensive player and was solely responsible for his first "fluke' goal and he was the one who spotted shannahan and made him such a perfect pass that a shannahan bouncing shot made it past Hedberg the Thrasher netminder. Great game and also Sidney Crosby scoring the GWG for his team was just the first step of him rivaling Gretzky for great one status. His goal was a clinic in awareness as he was skating backwards and when he turned around, he found the puck and jammed it home.

Baseball- Mets lost to nats, nothing else to say but pathetic. Big win for the Yankes in the 13th, they needed that for their bullpen. Big game tonight for Jackie in all parks in baseball with the number 42 being worn. I understand Torii Hunter's stance with saying that with so many player swearing it, it could get "watered down" but the fact remains if a player wants to honor the man himself I have no problem showing it, just like I have no problem with Garret Anderson admitting he is not wearing #42 beacuse he is not "worthy of it."

Basketball- Thought of this last night, but doesn't it seem like every year the basketball season is a month too long in terms of people actually caring. No one cares about the last month because you are either tanking for a better lottery selection or you are one of four teams who is still in contention. I find it dumb and if they are going to keep the schedule the same length their should be less playoff teams so more teams are still competing, or give byes to the first four teams etc.

Football- Draft is coming in two weeks and at some point this week I will unveil the Julian Gompertz Mock Draft Edition 1.0. I used to mock drafts early and often but have come to realize the only time it is worth doing is now and up until the draft in the last two weeks because doing one a month ago, you would have selected Jamarcus (1) and probably Joe Thoams (2) but that is not going to be the draft order now.
